Global crisis, New Normal Development and Resilience After the COVID pandemic, the world is now facing a new challenge stemming from the impact of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. What made things more complicated is that most nations are still in the process of rebuilding their economies from the pandemic but are now facing major roadblocks in re-starting their development due to the global consequences of the invasion. The situation has also revealed the vulnerabilities of the 21st century supply chain system and the global resource market. Oil prices have gone up due to the sanctions levied on Russia, one of the largest suppliers of oil and natural gas in the world. Democracy has also become under siege due to the continuation of the economic and social problems brought about by the almost three-year pandemic and now made worse by the conflict in Eastern Europe. 2022 was supposed to be the year for rebuilding and recalibration onto the “New Normal” but it is so far shaping up as another year of COVID and geopolitical problems.
